McAfee Magic: How One Tiny Tweak Boosted Sales by 15%

November 20th, 2008 by Amir Ahmad Read more about Conversion Rate, Creating Trust Online, Landing Page Optimization, Make Money, Reviews, Split Testing, Website Optimization

Who knew that such a tiny, little addition - a small image to be precise - can have such a significant impact on sales?

Well, we certainly didn't expect it, and that just goes to show the importance of split testing even the smallest tweaks.

Here is what we did.

One of our biggest websites is www.SilvaLifeSystem.com and below is how the top banner of the website looked BEFORE implementing the tweak.

This is it AFTER the tweak.

Spot the difference?

Adding the "McAfee Secure" seal boosted sales by an average of 15%.

The seal and the information it leads to when clicked seem to make a group of suspicious prospects more comfortable at making a purchase online.

Considering the positive impact it had, it's clearly obvious that our $2,000 investment for the seal was very worthy.

If you're making big revenues with your online business, a 15% boost in sales, or even just a small 5% boost will easily cover your costs and you can enjoy the ROI for months to come.

I do believe that boosts in conversion rates will vary depending on your target market though.

To certify your online business, all you need to do is make an application at the McAfee Secure site:

McAfee Secure web sites are certified as providing the highest level of protection for their shoppers.

Are you going to give it a try? What are you doing now to boost the confidence of those who are suspicious and still uncomfortable with buying from you?

Please share your insights with us.

Kenneth’s $10K Twitter Dowry: Three Weeks Later

November 12th, 2008 by Vishen Lakhiani Read more about Make Money

Recently we published a post about how Kenneth created an impressive presence on Twitter and used it to raise $10K for his dowry.

There are some updates and clarifications that need to be shared.

1) Unfortunately, Kenneth and Laura didn't make it to Zimbabwe in the end. They were flying to Zimbabwe by way of Thailand. But Visa transit issues at Thailand forced them back to Malaysia again. Apparently Thailand law required Laura to apply for a transit visa. So they were not allowed aboard their flight from Bangkok to Zimbabwe and had to return to Malaysia. :-(

The good news is that they're attempting another trip in December to settle things.

2) The $10k Kenneth made was not cash in hand. Twitter is not the best tool for affiliate marketing and immediate cash. It's the ultimate tool for leads and finding JV partners. The $10K was the value of JV and consultancy offers Kenneth accumulated in the months to come.

3) The dowry is still far from being paid. The ritual is complicated and involves a whole series of steps. Moreover, depending on negotiations, it can go from 5 cows to cell phones, cars and even small houses. Kenneth can only determine the exact things and amount of money involved once he arrives there, but for now, the value of the dowry is a rough estimation. Phew! Marrying someone in Zimbabwe is tough. Where's a Vegas drive-through chapel when you need one?

We wish the best of luck to Kenneth and Laura. Once the wedding happens, we might share a picture or two with you here!

FaceUBook.com – Facebook’s evil twin

October 18th, 2008 by Vishen Lakhiani Read more about Facebook, Social Media

I got a message from a friend of mine on Facebook. The message told me to check out a particular blog on AOL. I clicked on a link and ended up briefly on the AOL blog site...

...but then that page refreshed and I saw this.

Why would Facebook be asking me to reenter my password?

I glanced the URL bar and this is what I saw:

it wasn't Facebook.com. It was FaceuBook.com!

It turns out this was a phishing site. It fools users into re-entering their Facebook username and password. It then sends messages to everyone in your Friends list asking them to check out a particular blog.

When they do, the process repeats itself.

In addition to causing a lot of embarrassment and hassle to your friends, the jerk behind this scam also gets access to all your personal info.

I hope Facebook.com takes some action against FaceUBook.com, shuts down this domain and figures out how to keep these scams from affecting innocent users.

In the meantime, when entering passwords on sites like Facebook, PayPal etc, don't forget to check your address bar to make sure you're on the legit site.

100 of the world's top marketers come together at Eben Pagan's Green Room Event, held at Chicago on Sep 27 and 28 at the House of Blues.

Mike and I just got back from a whirlwind trip. Dallas, Chicago and LA, where we had to squeeze in some 8 different meetings with amazing individuals in the fields of online marketing and personal growth.

One of the highlights was attending the "Green Room". A special get-together that Eben Pagan of GetAltitude.com had organized.

Here are some pics. And a big thank you to Eben and his team for organizing an amazing event.

That's Mike on the left, and myself on the right with Eben Pagan, aka David D'Angelo, standing in the middle. He's the marketing guru who came up with GetAltitude.com, DoubleYourDating.com and several other internet businesses.

We've been using it on several sites to astonishing results. My latest video in the Insider's Program talks about how to use it to boost mailing rate responsiveness. Next to Trey is John Walker, Jeff Walker's bro.

Overall an excellent event. I'm going to make it a point to share more pics and stories of the various networking and social events we attend. It helps put a face on the people behind this industry.

3 Forbidden Twitter Mind Control Tricks to Explode Your Marketing

October 1st, 2008 by Kenneth Read more about Creating Trust Online, Make Money, Online Community, Viral Marketing

warningWARNING: The techniques explored in this piece are purely to be used for ethical purposes, if you're weak of stomach or of pure malicious character, then I urge you to please leave immediately.

Twitter can be evil.

Some less-than-scrupulous people can easily take advantage it and wield frightening influence over poor innocent subjects.

On the other hand, use it with responsibility and you perhaps have the most powerful relation-building medium online today.

Why? That's because Twitter is currently the closest app on Earth that replicates the actual thought patterns of the human mind. You see, the human mind does not really think in blog and article form. It does not think in huge chunks of information.

Instead, it thinks in a stream of consciousness way, random disjointed thought layered upon random disjointed thought.

That is why when you use Twitter, your mind is "tricked" into further receptivity than it normally should have, because it's now in its most natural environment.

It's almost like you are communicating telepathically with other people, because you're able to uncover a 100 different thoughts that are contained in a 100 different tweets.

After all, what's more intimate than the whispering voices in your head?

If you know how to take advantage of that state of mind, your microblogging can make you rich.

After a few months of testing and tracking what works, I have discovered 3 ways that Twitter can impact your business unlike any other site on Earth. Once you understand the Twitter user's borderline hypnotic state of mind, these 3 covert techniques can pre-sell prospects on warp speed.

1) Psychic Market Research

Marketers often talk about the Robert Collier concept of entering the conversations in your prospect's mind. Information marketing genius Porter Stansberry says that our marketing should start where they are.pocket watch

In other words, the closer you can align yourself to their top-of-the-mind thoughts, the more receptive to your marketing message they become.

However, the problem is that more often than not, you don't know what they're really preoccupied with.

What's worse, you sometimes make harmful guesses and assumptions. The end result is a bomb in your promotions and a dent in your sales, because your offer is not in tandem with what the prospect is thinking and feeling in the first place.

Good news. The whole interface of Twitter is one big web conversation taking place in a meeting of minds.

You see prospects exchanging rapid-fire thoughts, opinions, and random finds. In just one screen, you can read the hopes, dreams, interests, fears and dominant emotions of your niche.

To do this, just use http://search.twitter.com and Monitter, put in your niche keywords and boom--you'll instantly be transported to the heart of the conversation.

Start your marketing there and see the difference in your response.

2) Network Like a Viking

Vikings have a brutally effective way of making friends, and meeting potential mates.

They sail to random villagers and within minutes, they kill all the inhabitants, pillage all the houses and capture all the maidens.

Why are they so successful?

It's because they catch people by surprise, and there's little in the way of resistance.

And in the nearly spam-free waters of Twitter-ville, prospects are more often than not caught by surprise, and there's really very little resistance and a whole lot of receptivity.

For one, Twitter requires very little investment in expanding the social circle, because you can securely follow and unfollow people at will. As a result, it's easier to access the market leaders on Twitter because well, other than the investment of clicking a button, they won't really lose their privacy by accepting you as a friend--unlike email or mobile.

Furthermore, since you're confined to only 140 characters for your Twitter message, the effort for them to reply back to you is only a sentence and a click away. No relatively complex email writing process.

And because one-liners are lot less threatening than blocks of text, so people instinctively resist the messages less.brain scan

Plus, if they do get annoyed, the BLOCK button is only a push away.

Making connections has never been easier, and as long as you're not blatant with your promotions, you can make friends and influence people literally at the click of a mouse.

So do the Vikings and plunder prospect's wallets away.

3) Establish Your Place on the Mountain

Gary Vaynerchuk said this in his most recent keynote address for Web 2.0 Expo, "If you give good shit, people will follow".

This rings true especially for Twitter, because if you can share good stuff on a regular rate, you'll be perceived as a guru in record speed.

It's because the Twitter user's frame of mind is a very conducive one for making yourself larger than life.

Prospects get on Twitter to find out the latest gossip, to chat with their friends, and more importantly--to seek out important summarized information and short inspiration and revelation quotes.

Once you do that, it's like you are setting off flares in the middle of the night, and your prospects will notice.

As you know, getting prospects through the sales funnel is always a numbers game. The more good content you get out there attached with your name, the more chances you have at converting prospects to customers.

Because Twitter's push-button easy way of delivering messages instantly with a low investment of 140 characters, you can keep sending out quality stuff over and over again. Indeed, there's unprecedented opportunities for something to snag or hook the consumer and keep them for life.

And with that newfound authority, you can use it to sell more stuff and make more money from your now pre-sold audience.

So the conclusion?

Twitter is subversive territory.

When you understand how a prospect uses Twitter, getting your marketing message across has never been this unfairly simple.

It is software built on the base of NLP programming. So even if you have not gone for a day of training in your life, Twitter makes the mind easy pickings because it leaves the mind in a vulnerable state.

So use these 3 secrets and profit from them. In fact, let me know if you've used them and seen results.

Because I have. Amazing breakthroughs have been happening since I hopped on to the micro-blogging bandwagon.

Do you think SEO in other languages is easier?

September 18th, 2008 by Mike Reining Read more about SEO

I was just doing a little bit of SEO work for two of our web sites.

One is a new Spanish speaking web site that we launched recently and we wanted to get it to the top of Google for the keyword "metodo silva" and we were able to get to the top of the page within a few weeks.

Last weekend, I started to do a little SEO for my mom's new real estate web site in Mallorca (yes... once you parents know that you are into technology they just love to ask you for help for everything!) and once again I am starting to see rapid results.  This time I was optimizing my mom's new web site for the keyword phrases "Langzeitvermietung Mallorca" and "Langzeitmiete Mallorca"

Once again, I noticed that I am getting results a lot faster than I was expecting.  I am starting to think that SEO in foreign languages can be a lot easier.  Ok, I know that the keyword phrases that I listed as examples are not very competitive but I am still surprised given that these sites are brand new and have no established page rank.

What have your results been with SEO for other languages?

By the way, the two web sites I was referring to are:

* www.MetodoSilvaDeVida.com and
* www.FincasIMas.com

Testimonials Sell. Email Them.

September 9th, 2008 by Amir Ahmad Read more about Email Marketing

In keeping with our tradition of continuous tests and tweaks to boost the performance of our websites, we've iStock_000001432707Small discovered a very simple type of email that works well for email marketing.

You just need one main powerful ingredient to make it work well - testimonials.

That's right.

Testimonials sell. The more you have, the better. Plus, they do boost conversion rates on websites.

So, we thought, what the heck, let's literally put some testimonials in our emails and see how that goes.

Building Your Email from Testimonials

To give you a demonstration on how to do this, here's a quick and simple example.

The following are testimonials from one of our major websites, SilvaLifeSystem.com

First Testimonial

“I’ve used the Silva Method for many years. It has helped me overcome my own illnesses. I urge you to attend Mr. Silva’s training sessions that are presented around the world.”

~ Dr. Wayne Dwyer, motivational speaker, author, and popular self-improvement guru from best-selling book Real Magic (Harper Mass Market Paperbacks, 1993)

Second Testimonial

“One of the earliest workshops I took was the Silva Mind Control Course… The most important technique I learned in that course was the basic technique of creative visualization… Our rational mind is like a computer… The intuitive mind, on the other hand, seems to give access to an infinite supply of information. It appears to be able to tap into a deep storehouse of knowledge and wisdom…”

~ Shakti Gawain, author of numerous books, including Creative Visualization (Bantam Books, 1983) from Living in the Light (Bantam Books, 1993)

Third Testimonial

I have been investigating and researching everything in the self-help and metaphysical field for the last 20 years….I have learned many techniques to help people, and the best of all is The Jose Silva UltraMind ESP System. I cannot imagine anyone not wanting to learn Jose Silva’s System once they understand how valuable these techniques are.

~ Ellen Roper, certified hypnotherapist.

Great, so now we have a few lovely testimonials. Here's how we can include them strategically in a captivating email.

Remember, this is just a simple example.

Hi {FIRSTNAME},

The Silva Method community can
be a very talkative one - I get
lots of email every day from
people asking questions and telling
stories.

I wanted to share a few to show
you what others are saying and

alive, he would have been pleased
to hear all the positive feedback.

some good goals :)

So what did Jose do you ask?

A Few Closing Words

Now of course, the above isn't meant to be a substitute for other important things a good email needs to have such as a captivating subject line. It's meant to be a solid complimentary tactic you can use once in a while to boost your email marketing performance.
