Here is the latest Google AdWords Tip that I would like to share with you.

In fact, I am sure that now that the cat is out of the bag, you are going to start to see a lot more people writing ads like this one. What did we do this time? Well, we tested writing a copy that would finish with … (dot, dot, dot).

Why? Because it naturally tells people that there is more information waiting behind the add. Did I know this would work? Of course NOT! This was one of those ideas that occurred to me for the lack of ideas. I have had this winning ad for so long and I have never been able to beat it with better copy. Not in the past 8 months after dozens of split tests.

However, this time this tiny change of adding … to the end of my winning ad boosted my results by another 135%+! If that’s not amazing tell me what is.

Here is the detailed information:

Update: Aaron was kind enough to point out that I made a typo in the image above. The correct impression number was 241,458. Initially I had entered the same number as the winning ad and that was wrong.

Its great to experiment with punctuation. Hopefully the adword editors team will allow this to be used, as most other forms of punctuation are illegal.

Wow - that’s an awesome discovery. I think it’s mostly going to be targeted at sectors where there’s some level of ‘intrigue’ which won’t be everyone’s market. Still - impressive stuff!

One comment - how come the no of clicks for the winning ad is lower despite the same no of impressions? Think your images might be messed up slightly.

Just wanted to say thanks to our readers that caught a quick mistake that I just corrected. Initially, I wrote the wrong number of impressions down for the losing ad, which made the math appear wrong.

I just wanted to clarify that the math was exact and the results that we got are just as I published above. The mistake was that I showed the wrong impressions count but thanks to a couple of our readers we caught it quickly and corrected it.

As far as I know, putting 3 dots in an ad is disallowed
I have tried using it in the past and got my ads rejected.

    I will try again :)

    It is.

    From Here: https://adwords.google.com/select/guidelines.html

“Use clear, direct language and avoid gimmicks.

    Use Standard Punctuation and Symbols
No repeated and unnecessary punctuation or symbols.
Your title may not contain an exclamation point.
Your ad text may only contain one exclamation point. ”

Ads might slip through but they almost alwasy get yanked eventually.

Hello! It is not enough number of impressions for statistics, in second case. I think both of variants are equivalent.

I think you could possibly ask for an exception from Google if the ad gets disapproved, IF:
    1) Your site is worthwhile(in the eyes of Google).
    2) If you can show that the ad copy, with that ‘…’ ties in tightly with the landing page ( [ad:] xxx yyy… –> [landing page:] … zzz)
    3) You speak nicely! :-)
