Tips on How to Get Better Search Engine Ranking

Follow These Tips to Boost The Search Engine Placement of Your Blog Post

Every professional blogger wants to have their blog posts appear high in the organic search results of Google.  After all, there is nothing like getting tons of free traffic.

Here is a powerful how to guide to get a better search engine ranking for your blog posts.

1) Optimize your blog post for one keyword phrase

How do I find this keyword phrase?  First, usse services such as WordTracker to find potential candidates.  Two, quickly check the competition by entering the keyword phrase into Google and see how competitive the keyword phrase is.

What determines competitiveness?

First, check the PageRank of the search results and second check if the pages are optimized for this particular keyword phrase.

2) Optimize your blog post for the keyword phrase

You can only get a better search engine ranking if your posts have better content and if the content is better optimized than the content of the current top posts for the given keyword prase.

To optimize your blog posts do the following:

  • List the keyword phrase in the title
  • Use clean URLs to ensure that the phrase is contained in the URL
  • List the keyword phrase in the H1 and H2 tags
  • Use the keyword phrase a few times in the blog post (especially in the first and last paragraph)
  • Optimize the meta-tags

3) Cross link between your posts with the keyword phrase

While it might be hard to get other bloggers to link to all of your blog posts, it is easy to do this yourself.  So, finish every blog post with a list of recommended posts to keep engaging your readers.  Of course, the anchor link text should be optimized.

How well does this work?

Our personal hit rate has been close to 100%.  That means almost every single time that we identify a keyword phrase that we would like to show up for on the very first page of Google we will.  Here are some examples:

Will this trick work for you?

It depends.  Obviously, on our blog we have already obtained a solid Google PageRank of 5 which helps a lot.  Plus, our blog is probably (hopefully) recognized as an authority site within Internet Marketing since we write a lot of original high quality content.

    Hi Guys,
I just started my blog yesterday and my posts are already showing up on google blogs! However, I just did a post called “starbucks in hawaii” but it does not show up for that term, I have to type in my whole blog name “hawaii vacation gifts by double brush” and then hit the more rusults from… underneath it in order to get to that post.

I am not sure how to do the H1 and H2 tags in wordpress.com
I had tried to start a wordpress blog on my site, but it was too hard for me, so yesterday I just made it point to my new wordpress.com blog.

Thanks for the google tips, I will try them!
