Google AdWords Tip: The Best Google Ad I Ever Wrote

November 8th, 2006 by Mike Reining Read more about Google AdWords Tips

Here is one of the single best ads that I have ever written on Google AdWords. I have spent about three months trying to beat this winning ad copy but I have never been able to do it.

As you can see, the winning ad is pretty obvious. The keyword is “Stephen Pierce” and in the headline I am promising to the prospect that they will discovery some interesting information when they come to my site.

The winning description also tells the potential buyer to not make a purchase until they come and check out what we have to say. It is so simple and yet so effective. I have tried dozens of iterations. For example, I tried changing the keyword “buy” in “Read this before you buy” to “consider” but nothing ever comes close to the same click-through and conversion rate.

If you think you can improve upon this winning ad, please let me know your thoughts.

I lik e the approach, but aren’t there risks of the ad copy not being approved by Google if you mention a specific competitor?

Though the ad text is alright, did you try playing with the title?

I’d guess it is a strong one, but another verb or two words might make a difference.

    Stephen Pierce secrets exposed?”

Change the domain name. Register Pierce-Exposed.com or something else the reinforces the ad copy (unless you’re trying to use adwords for branding)
