Google AdWords Secret: Speak Plain English To Boost Your Click-Through-Rate
August 23rd, 2006 by Mike Reining Read more about Articles, Google AdWords, Google AdWords Tips, Pay per click advertisingHere is a Google AdWords Secret that you might have missed. Instead of trying to be very descriptive or list lots of features and benefits, sometimes just speaking in plain English might do the trick!
While this AdWords Secret might seem too simple, I would strongly encourage you to give it a try. Here is an example of where we applied this Google AdWords Secret on one of our ads. The results are nothing short of remarkable.

As you can see from the example above, we were able to boost our CTR by 186%. The only difference between the two ads was the description in line one and line two of our ad copy. The secret sauce was to use plain English and go straight to the point. It is not that the language we used in the losing ad was that much harder.
The biggest difference was that the losing ad is relatively cluttered and was trying too hard and trying to accomplish too much. In the winning ad the secret was to go straight to the point! People are on Google to find answers and the ad copy of the winning ad conveys this message beautifully. So, give this idea a test run with one of your own Ad Groups.
