For me it is a probability calculation: p1: the chance of addressing the right person p2: the chance of addressing with the appropriate message p3: the chance of being on the right moment Thus the total probability = p1 times p2 times p3 Thus the need to send out massive email quantiities in order to score one click to your website. But maybe money isn't in teh list, but in the relationship. People do find your website by 'natural search'. These visitors are likely to be interested. I never understood email marketing.
